Prayer Groups

Supporting Centering Prayer Practitioners…

At the heart of the Chapter are the various Centering Prayer groups across the area. Each Centering Prayer group has at its core the practice of a 20 minute Centering Prayer session. The groups spend the rest of the hour or hour and a half in reading a passage from scripture or related books, viewing a segment of a Fr. Thomas Keating video, engaging in Lectio Divina (a contemplative method of reading the scriptures), discussing certain texts or books important to the participants and ending with prayer requests (of course, not all at the same meeting!).

If you wish to start a new Centering Prayer group, please let us know. A facilitator could attend the group the first time, if you wish, and we would continue our assistance as needed.

A listing of the prayer groups we know of are below. If you’d like to have your prayer group added to the list, please let us know.
